Schools should not close because of the H1N1 Virus

Some people think that schools should close because of the H1N1 Virus.However, I believe that if the government closes the schools, it will cause a lot of problems.

Although I am a student, I do not agree with this measure. Firstly, the schedule of the school curriculum is very tight. If the schools close because of the virus, it will suspend classes. This will seriously influence teaching progress. Also, the school students have to reduce the summer vacation. May and July are the test months, if the schools close, the students could not see and ask their teacher something that they don't understand.I think it is unfair to the students.

Secondly,.If the schools close, the F.5 students may have problem joining the HKCEE. They may not be able to take the exam. As a result, the HKCEE results may not be available. So, if only the school the results are counted, it can cause a very unfair situation.I think it not just unfair of the F5 students, it is also unfair of all students in Hong Kong.

In conclusion, I believe that school should not close because of the H1N1 Virus. This will put off the summer holidays and it is unfair to the F5 students who could not join the HKCEE exam.Therefore, I think that suspending classes is not a good way to fight against the H1N1 virus. However if the epidemic situation gets worsening, suspending classes may be the most effective arrangement for a short term.

One-sided Argumentative Essay

A one-sided argumentative essay is a formal type of writing that argues for or against something. It only gives one side of an argument and tries to persuade the readers to accept the writer's point of view.

Children under 12 should not be allowed to stay home alone

Some people think that children should be allowed to stay home alone.However, I believe that if the children are allowed ti stay home alone, it will cause a lot of problems.

Firstly without parents' care, children can cause a lot of problems. Children who are under 12 can't look after themselves well.They may play fire that can cause a great disaster to the people living in the same flat. If some strangers knock on their door, they will open it.This will also cause problem to their family.If they are hungry,they may not know how to cook. And they will suffer from hunger.

Another disadvantage is that children will disturb their neighbours. They may play loudly and make loud noise.For example, they may switch on the TV with a high volume.They may also bring their friends home, and partying noisily.This is something that not only disturb their neighbours, but also cause dangers.

In conclusion, I believe that nobody should be allowed to let children under 12 stay home alone.Without parents' supervision, children can cause a disaster to both neighbours and themselves.So it is important for government to have laws to prevent this happen.

Today I learnt how to learn vocabulary items by grouping them into four categories: Adjective, Noun, Verb and Adverb.

For example, the word CRIME can be grouped into: adjective as criminal;nouns for things as crime; nouns for people as criminal; verbs as no-such-form or "to commit a crime"; and the adverbs as criminally.

The words can further be grouped into sentences. The examples are as below.

• As for the adjective, the sentence can be "The judge announced Jill's case as a criminal one".
  
• As for the noun for things, the sentence can be "This is a crime to steal." ; nouns for people, "Jill was convicted as a criminal for drug trafficking".
• As for the verb, there is no word-form of crime. But we will use the expression, to commit a crime.
  
• As for the adverb, the sentence can be, "He planned to steal the money criminally. "
